The first color eBook

The Fujitsu FLEPia is a new eBook Device with a color display screen that displays as vivid color as a black-and-white display without a backlight. It’s the first color eBook in the world. It’s all about Fujitsu Company which released its brainchild on April 20, 2009.

Fujitsu Frontech Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories Limited announced the world’s first color e-paper mobile terminal. FLEPia is now available for purchase in Japan. So it can be ordered from Fujitsu Frontech’s online store. Fujitsu’s new device uses color LCD technology that makes it possible to use it for 40 consecutive hours on a single battery charge. If there’s no power there’s no necessity to worry about your battery running down.

There’s an eight-inch display that is big enough to make your reading more comfortable by enlarging or shrinking text or images but with only Japanese language supported. The file types supported are as follows: Microsoft Office files, WinCE applications.

This LCD-based electronic reader is the first in the industry. It’s different from usual LCDs since the Reflex LCD display doesn't use a power-hungry backlight. The device has the capacity to show up to 260,000 colors in high-definition at 768 dots x 1,014 dots (XGA). FLEPia is also equipped with Bluetooth, making it possible to download different content.

There’s a dial-up connection designed by Fujitsu Frontech Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories Limited which also allow downloading text and images except for video and audio files. Fujitsu Frontech and Fujitsu Laboratories developed the first mobile information terminal to feature color e-paper. To generate text documents, spreadsheets, or presentations it is possible to use Microsoft Office, so you can view various documents, even e-mail file attachments. The end user can also send e-mails and other text.
